Mission Statement

For several years I was astonished by my mom’s ability to create all sorts of crafty art works. But I never was interested in learning stuff like that. My mom sensed this, so every time I was cranky she threatened to fold me into origami! This origami trauma led me to discover something even more sadistic: kirigami, which not only includes folding but cutting as well. In 2010 after losing my job, fracturing my spine in a roller coaster accident, and surviving two ninja attacks, my ability to walk was impeded for over a year. So I spent a lot of time at my desk learning from books of kirigami and creating new patterns; I have been doing this art ever since.

Kiripopup is a new adventure; it is a project that includes several new abilities I have acquired during my time at Brigham Young University-Idaho. As a student of web development and design, I have been able to understand principles of design and web programming, and apply them to my kirigami patterns and website. For all sort of celebrations, from Christmas to Hanukkah, or New Year’s to birthdays, Kiripopup will offer the most creative pop-up cards to enhance the way you express your love for family and friends. For the first time they will leave the present aside, and start with the card— and perhaps even read it!
